Crazy high gas bill!

High folks,

During this cold spell we had in the UK this winter (oh boy how bad was it?), my gas bill went through the roof! Actually probably quite literally as all the hot air my gas central heating supplied went upwards!

I'm thinking of having my loft space and roof insulated before next winter, do you think this would be cost effective?

Yes it would be cost effective, but not over the short term. It would take some years to pay for itself.

What kind of central heating do you have? Some of the older kinds are notoriously inefficient.

It may pay you to overhaul your entire heating system if its something like the old boiler fed water radiator type of setup.

Then lag your roof as well, you will have vastly reduced heating bills.
