How can I get a credit card?

I had some bad debt when I was younger, and have not been able to get a credit card ever since.

Some months it would be nice to have one to use on the run up to payday when I am over my monthly budget.

Any ideas?

Not sure if you really posted this in the right forum, as it brushes on the subject of credit repair and debt.

Anyway, I'll tell you how I did it, I now have multiple credit cards, including an Amex with a £9000 limit, 2 years ago I couldn't borrow a bean!

OK start borrowing, there a re a few ways to do this:

Bad credit credit card - Check out Capital One and Viscount, mad interest rates and very low limits, but get them, use them to the fullest, and then pay everything back every month.

Catalogue shopping - Get a Littlewoods catalogue or whatever, use it, pay on time every time.

Contract mobile - Gte a mobiel phone on pay monthly, pay on time every month.

This will slowly build your credit record again.

Wait about a year, then apply for a real credit card, I bet you get one.

This is one way to repair a bad credit rating yes.

It's not quick though, but it works.

Isn't it just better not to get into debt?

I mean it's not hard is it? You borrow what you can afford to repay.

It's people like the original poster who are responsible for the credit crunch and the whole recession we are still in!

I know its tough, but there are good sites on the net to help out with debt problems. End of the day you have to work hard to pay it off..(
