As hotels like any other business need to keep thier figures looking good, room occupancy rate is key. This means hotels love advance bookings. To entice people into makeing hotel booking early in advance, hotels offer discounts for as "early bird" rates. Booking room well in advance can hence end up being cheaper.
However, on the flip side, if hotels have'nt managed to fill up thier rooms (the not so busy hotels) you could get a good room rate by booking close to your travel date. I would say within a week of your travel date, you might find excellent room rates.
Best thing is to check rates fo rthe hotel you like, two months in advance and then a week in advance. You will know how good a rate you are getting.
Any other ideas?
